Dear John,
Remember Schools and Community First? It wasn’t just a campaign; it was a battle. We fought to close tax loopholes that let corporations and billionaires off the hook while our schools and communities paid the price. We didn’t win Prop 15, but we came damn close, despite being outspent by those who hoard wealth instead of investing in our future. That narrow loss wasn’t the end—it was a stepping stone.
But this fight has always been bigger than one election. It’s about building a California that works for all of us, no matter who we are, where we come from, or what we look like.
That’s why I’m excited to introduce you to the next chapter— We Are California. This movement is rooted in the same values that brought us together for Schools and Community First. It’s about standing up to the wealthiest corporations and the top 1% who have more than they’ll ever need while the rest of us work harder than ever just to get by. It’s about a California where every child gets a fair shot, where our neighborhoods thrive, and where your voice—our voices—drives the decisions that shape our lives.
We need you with us now more than ever. Before we move forward, let’s make sure we’re doing this together. Let us know if you’re in. Your input will help guide our fight in the days ahead.
This is about more than one election—it’s about building a movement. When we stand together, we’re unstoppable. Thank you for being a part of this. Let’s keep moving forward, side by side, and build the California we all deserve.
In solidarity,
We Are California
