Help us protect earned benefits [link removed] [link removed] GIVE TODAY to Support Earned Benefits During This Crisis! DearJohn,
With the desire of so many people around the world to make a difference during this time of crisis, it's no surprise that #GivingTuesdayNow [link removed] was born!
[link removed]
And on May 5, 2020, the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare [link removed] is excited to participate in this global day of giving and unity, [link removed] created in response to the unprecedented need caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
As you know, the coronavirus pandemic has aggravated the struggles of millions of older Americans living on fixed incomes, who are least able to afford any sudden increase to the cost of their prescription drugs or unforeseen health care expenses not covered under Medicare. At the same time, this crisis has exposed an unaccountable drug industry that continues to prioritize profits over public health. The interests of older Americans and the earned benefits they rely on must be defended during this uncertain time for our country. With powerful Washington lawmakers still fixated on cutting Social Security and Medicare to pay for other fiscal priorities and with so many Americans distracted from the policy process by the coronavirus pandemic, we need to stand strong for the benefits workers and retirees have paid into and earned during their long-working lives!
With so much at stake, will you take part in #GivingTuesdayNow? [link removed] Your support will help boost the National Committee's full-scale campaign to pass urgent legislation [link removed] in Congress that will help older Americans survive the coronavirus pandemic, both physically and financially. And in the critical weeks and months ahead, we'll continue to hold our elected officials accountable for any proposal that fails to uphold our government's promise to workers and retirees!
Sincerely, Max Richtman
