Indivisibles,

It’s debate time.

Tomorrow, Future President Kamala Harris and insurrectionist Donald Trump will take the debate stage in our first chance this cycle to watch her mop the floor with him before she does it again in November.

One thing we know: Donald Trump will lie. Donald Trump will evade. Donald Trump will do everything he can to avoid answering direct questions with policy positions because he knows his policies are widely unpopular with the American public. But he’ll continue to dance around the truth because his freedom is on the line.

VP Harris, on the other hand, is poised to bring her message of joyful progress to a larger audience -- reminding the country that she has the policies and the experience to back up the wave of support she is riding right now.

The difference between these two candidates couldn’t be clearer and will be on full display. We can’t wait for everyone else to see just how prepared Kamala Harris is to lead this country and be reminded how incompetent and deceitful Trump can be.

Let’s get ready together.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: We’re bringing Future Speaker of the House Hakeem Jeffries to our pre-debate call tomorrow, Tuesday September 10 at 8pm ET/5pm PT.

Rep. Jeffries will be joining us to talk about the stakes of the next 56 days, exactly what we can do to win, and just how important it is to make sure VP Harris and Coach Walz have a Democratic Congress to back them up.

We’ll wrap up with the future Speaker, and then focus on what we expect from the debate and how we will ensure a Harris/Walz victory in November. Register now to secure your spot.

With that, here are your weekly to-dos:

 Your 5 weekly to-dos

  1. Register for our national phonebank into Wisconsin for Kamala on Tuesday, September 17 at 6pm ET/3pm PT. Wisconsin is a key state in this year’s electoral map, let’s make sure our turnout is strong enough that Trump can’t even try to steal it again. We will be hosting phonebanks into key areas all across the country every week until November 5. We’ll make sure to always highlight the next upcoming phonebank in these to-dos, but if you want to get ahead of the curve and block off some dates, use this page to register for upcoming phonebanks, set up your own phonebank, or participate in the many other ways we have to contact voters this election.
  2. Join us alongside partner Vote Forward for a virtual letter writing party on Thursday, September 19 at 4pm ET/1pm PT. We’re writing letters to voters in key House districts as part of The Big Send -- a collective effort to send 10 million letters to voters this year. Not available that day? We have another opportunity to write letters to voters on October 3.
  3. Register for Women Wednesdays for Harris weekly at 8:30pm ET/5:30pm PT through the election. Every Wednesday through Election Day, we will be partnering on a national call bringing together women from all across the country to build community, strategize, and share tools to drive a Harris victory in November. This Wednesday will focus on voter registration.
  4. If you’re eligible, sign up for Neighbor2Neighbor. Neighbor2Neighbor is the most effective form of voter contact that we’ve seen. Connect with your community while ensuring that your democracy-aligned neighbors get out to vote this year. It’s simple. It’s quick. And, it’s a fun way to get to meet some of your neighbors who you have something in common with -- a pro-democracy future.
  5. Check out our Project 2025 resources. You asked for more specific resources on Project 2025, its impact, and how we need to talk about it to win in November, and we answered. Project 2025 is the most thorough blueprint we have ever seen from MAGA Republicans on how they plan to strip away our rights, protections, and freedoms if they achieve power. But as dangerous as their plan is for the American people, it is just as damaging to their electability. But only when people know about it. We have to make sure people understand just how extreme Project 2025 intends to be, and here’s your literature to do it.

P.S. Election Day is just under 2 months away and now's the time when we need to make big investments in battleground districts and target states. If you're able, pitch in today to help fund our electoral work and support the grassroots organizing that could decide this year's election.

Local Voices, Local Power Round 4 Endorsements

Local Voices, Local Power (LVLP) is our group-driven endorsements program that puts money and resources into our local groups’ hands to power wins for Democratic champions all across the country, up and down the ballot.

Check out our final round of candidates, the groups who endorsed them, and a quick summation of why they endorsed in their own words:

Muncie Resists endorses Sue Errington for Indiana State House District 34

Sue Errington is endorsed by Muncie Resists for Indiana State House District 34. Sue Errington has been tireless in her advocacy for Muncie residents and all Hoosiers. She has served us well in the State House since 2012. Her values and policy stances align well with Muncie Resists' values. She is an advocate for reproductive rights, having worked for Planned Parenthood before beginning her career in electoral politics. She is a former teacher and a strong advocate for public education. She has fought against gerrymandering and for fair redistricting. She is a strong advocate for climate, and she has fought for solar in Delaware County. She also worked to secure legislation to support our local land bank. Her leadership in the state house has been productive in pushing policies for the people of Muncie and prioritizing progressive legislation in a legislature that sees little progressive progress elsewhere.

Firelands Indivisible endorses Marcy Kaptur for OH-09

Marcy Kaptur is endorsed by Firelands Indivisible for Ohio’s 9th congressional district. Marcy Kaptur is the longest-serving woman in the US House of Representatives, having served Ohio since 1983. We are honored to support her. Rep. Kaptur has a truly admirable record of accomplishments. In contrast, her opponent Derek Merrin (OH House-42), has a record of being either ineffective or harmful as a legislator. Marcy Kaptur has worked across party lines to promote the creation of jobs, economic growth, vital infrastructure, and support for veterans and our military. She advocates for economic and health security, striving to create a level playing field for all. Marcy Kaptur is known as a "Fighter for Working Families."

Indivisible NWI endorses Frank Mrvan for IN-01

Frank Mrvan is endorsed by Indivisible NWI for Indiana’s 1st congressional district. Congressman Mrvan has been a champion for the people of Northwest Indiana and the entire country. He is one of only two Democratic US Congress members from Indiana. He has enabled our area of the state to be one of the few progressive districts, championing progressive causes and working tirelessly to combat backward legislation in the US House of Representatives. He gets things done. He brings back funding and countless new projects to our state and especially to Northwest Indiana.  A loss of this office to the Republicans would have consequences for us all. He has a strong moral compass, a fantastic work ethic, he can (and does) work across the aisle to get things done, and he is hugely responsive and approachable. He has been a great friend to Indivisible NWI -- always keeping us abreast of new legislation and projects coming to our district.

These candidates reflect our local groups’ commitment to finding and supporting candidates who reflect a Democratic ideal that will drive the sorts of change we desperately need. Whether that’s enshrining reproductive freedoms on the federal level, or fighting for the dignity of all people across a single city, we are looking for true Democratic fighters who will defend democracy and champion the will of the people come November.

Demand Your Members of Congress Call For A Ceasefire

**Content Warning: Talk about the current humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Jump to the line break if you need to avoid this topic.**

An estimated 750,000 Israeli citizens took to the streets on Saturday protesting Benjamin Netanyahu’s failure to secure the return of hostages and a ceasefire. This follows months of internal protests in Israel and thousands of protesters taking to the streets last week after the recovery of six more hostages found dead in Gaza.

Even his own citizens realize that Netanyahu’s government is only succeeding at prolonging the bloodshed.

Unfortunately, while the push to get Netanyahu to actually work toward a ceasefire continues to play out, an American citizen was killed by IDF forces while protesting in the West Bank -- on the same day a 13-year-old Palestinian girl was also killed.

This conflict in Gaza, and increasingly spreading to the West Bank, continues to claim the lives of innocent people. Officially, over 40,000 Palestinians (including over 16,000 children) have been killed since Oct 7th. It is past time for elected leaders on all sides to bring it to an end.

Congress must use every tool at its disposal to secure a ceasefire, the return of all remaining hostages, and the free administration of humanitarian aid. The strongest tool they have is withholding offensive weaponry from Netanyahu’s government, and we must employ that pressure.

Call your representative and tell them we need a ceasefire today.
