John – Childcare is not a luxury: it’s a necessity.

Did you know that in many states, the cost of childcare now surpasses the cost of rent or even college tuition?*

For many families across the country, rising childcare costs have become unbearable and they are being pushed to their financial limits.

When our leaders dismiss this crisis as "not that expensive," they fail to understand the real burden on everyday families. That’s why we need to raise our voices for affordable childcare and a care economy that works for everyone — not just the wealthiest.

Sign our petition today [[link removed]] to join the movement for affordable childcare and a fair care economy. Together, we can ensure that every family has access to the care they need without sacrificing financial stability.

Affordable childcare isn’t just a family issue — it’s a workers' rights issue.

The domestic workers we fight for are the backbone of our care system. These hardworking individuals — overwhelmingly women and people of color — are the ones who care for our children, elders, and loved ones. Yet, despite their essential role in supporting our families, they face low wages, few protections, and an overwhelming lack of respect for their labor. In fact, childcare workers earn a mean hourly wage of just $13.42. In 2022, only five occupations paid less than this.**

The current system devalues both the care providers and those seeking care. It’s a broken cycle that leaves everyone vulnerable.

Care Champions in Congress understand the importance of this fight. But there are still too many decision-makers who turn a blind eye to the childcare crisis. We need your voice to help open their eyes and demand change [[link removed]] .

To create a just care economy, we must support both the families who need care and the workers who provide it. Domestic workers deserve fair wages, safe working conditions, and the ability to provide the quality care that every family deserves. By supporting affordable childcare [[link removed]] , you’re also standing in solidarity with the domestic worker movement to create a system that uplifts everyone.

Let’s work toward a future where families don’t have to choose between paying rent and caring for their children.

Thanks for all that you do,

Care Team

The majority of domestic workers sit at the center of some of our nation’s most decisive issues because of who they are and what they do: they are women – mostly women of color, immigrants, mothers, and low-wage workers. They are impacted by almost every policy affecting the future of our economy, democracy and country.

Domestic workers can lead us toward a new, inclusive vision for the future for all of us -- and your grassroots support is the fuel that can get us there.
