Sister District DC Metro Area Newsletter
September 2024

In this newsletter, we will cover:

  • Success! Congratulations on September 5 Fundraiser with Anna Thomas and Woodson Bradley
  • Canvassing Success, Too!
  • Phonebank for Our Candidates
  • Join Sister District DC Metro Area's September 10 General Meeting
  • Fireside Chat with David Daley on October 15

You Did It! 🎉

Congratulations and a HUGE thank you to all of our volunteers and fantastic co-sponsors, Diversity Matters and members of the Woman's National Democratic Club, for a fabulous fundraiser for Woodson Bradley (NC Senate 42) and Anna Thomas (PA House 137)  on September 5.

We blew past our fundraising goal with over $10,000 raised, AND helped the Sister District Project in the process by unlocking matching dollars!  We can't wait to celebrate Anna's and Woodson's election with our amazing team in November!

If you would still like to make an impact, you can do so by donating HERE.

But Wait, There's More!

We Conquered Canvassing, Too!

More thanks to everyone who joined Diversity Matters and Sister District DC Metro Area for a weekend road trip Sept. 7-8 to canvass for Anna Thomas. You made an impact AND had fun doing it!

Won't You "Paws" for an Hour and Help Us Phonebank for Woodson and Anna?

We're off the leash for our candidates, Anna Thomas and Woodson Bradley, and hope you are, too!  With the election only two months away, we are more determined than ever to win Best in Show!

Won't you join us in making calls to voters in Pennsylvania and North Carolina. It's online, it's easy, and training and handling is a breeze! Come be among friendly people who share your concerns and are taking positive action.

Sign up today to phonebank for both of our candidates on Wednesdays, 6:30-8 pm ET!

Why phonebank? The data proves it: phonebanking is THE BEST volunteering option for remote voter contact. We identify supporters and let them know why their vote matters, speak with undecided voters, and recruit local volunteers.

Each Zoom phonebank includes training and check-ins for first-timers (experienced callers can jump right in). We'll share successes and address questions throughout the session, all while contacting voters in crucial state legislative races. Our veteran phonebank leaders will help you get comfortable, increase your effectiveness, and make sure you have a great experience.

Can't make September 11?  There are plenty of other options to participate!  Sign up for one or more phonebanks below!

Our Next Monthly Meeting is Tomorrow!

Please join us at our next monthly meeting tomorrow, September 10, to hear from Sister District's very own Head of Campaigns, Taylor Hogeland! Taylor will be joining our team to provide updated information on the state of our candidates' races and will cover updates on campaign field efforts, paid media and communications strategies, the local political ecosystem, and updates on opponents.

Our Zoom meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month starting at 6:30 pm ET, and last for approximately 45 minutes.

If you're new to Sister District DC Metro Area, this meeting will provide you with an introduction to our community. Meet fellow volunteers, learn what we're up to, see how you can take action with us, hear from special guests, and more.

We hope you will be able to join us!

Join us on October 15
for a Conversation with David Daley!

We’re teaming up with Sister District National for a virtual conversation with investigative reporter David Daley about his new book, Antidemocratic on Tuesday, October 15 at 7pm ET. The book is a riveting yet disturbing history of the fifty-year Republican plot to hijack voting rights in America, its profound implications for the 2024 election, and the crucial role that Chief Justice John Roberts has played in determining how we vote.

We are excited to engage our community in a conversation about the themes in the book, and how important it is for us to rally the collective troops to vote this year, all the way down the ballot.
