Fall hunting season is upon us, an exciting time of year for new and seasoned hunters. This brings endless opportunities for sourcing sustainable food, exploration, adventure, challenge, skill building, and so much more! If you're looking to learn new skills or brush up on what you already know, check out these upcoming Learn to Hunt workshops across Maine! All materials are provided unless otherwise noted below.

Introduction to Hunting with Shotguns - Harrison, ME
Intro to Shotguns
Shotguns are one of the most versatile firearms on the market and can be used for a wide range of species. Whether you’re looking to hunt bear, deer, waterfowl, turkeys, upland birds, or small game, a shotgun may be one of your best investments and provide the most opportunities for various hunting pursuits. In this workshop, shotgun hunting scenarios will begin with action types, and choosing the right choke and shot size for the game you seek. We’ll cover judging distance, shooting at moving targets, and patterning your shotgun. Be prepared to do lots of shooting at the range, where we’ll simulate flushing birds, passing wing shots, incoming waterfowl, and other scenarios.

Upland Bird Hunting - Augusta, ME
Upland Bird Hunting
Join us for an exciting day learning about upland bird hunting! We'll split the day into two sessions. In the morning will be a classroom discussion covering laws and regulations, equipment, methods, habitats, and more. The afternoon will consist of hands on learning at the range to practice safe gun handling, shooting at clay targets, basic cleaning, maintenance, and firearms storage.

Learn to Hunt: Becoming a Hunter - Damariscotta or Northport, ME
Hunters in a field
Hunting is an excellent way to spend time outdoors in a meaningful and authentic way. If you are new to hunting, or just curious about it, this course is an excellent way to learn more, figure out how to get started or identify your step in your journey to becoming a hunter. This workshop will discuss laws and regulations, different reasons for hunting, selecting hunting equipment, target species, and how to get started on this rewarding path.
