We’ve made an important decision, friend.

Today, United We Dream Action (UWDA) is endorsing Kamala Harris for President and Tim Walz for Vice President. Let me explain.

An endorsement is not a pledge of allegiance or a profession of love for Harris and Walz. We don’t ride for any party or politician — we ride for our communities. Our assessment was grounded in our deep love for our people and our commitment to continue pushing for a better future. To make this decision, we asked ourselves guiding questions like:

Which candidate is more movable on the issues important to young, working-class, people of color?
Under whose administration would we be able to advance our fight to expand protections for immigrants?
What did it feel like to live under Trump’s administration last time? Can our rights, freedoms, and loved ones make it through that again?

After deep reflection with our community, it became clear that Harris and Walz are the candidates who are more movable and give our communities the best political conditions to win. There is no question that this election will be extremely close.

Under Trump, we’d be fighting for survival every day. We need, at a minimum, an administration that isn’t doesn't plan to deport our communities, revoke our freedoms, and make it nearly impossible for us to continue organizing. That administration is Harris'.

We’re not choosing saviors — we’re picking the terrain to organize and win dignity and safety for our communities, loved ones, and ourselves.

There’s too much at stake in this election. We know that the four years of the Trump administration were some of the most painful years for our communities - the Muslim Ban, children ripped from the arms of their parents, raids at workplaces and detentions at schools, attacks on DACA and TPS to name a few. We must take every measure possible to ensure we don’t go back.

We know that electing Harris will allow us better conditions to continue the fight for the demands and expectations our generation has set for our future (aka the Youth Agenda).

You’re part of a major voting bloc in this election, friend. Together, we have the power to defeat Trump and his white supremacist agenda that expressly seeks to harm us and obliterate our rights. We have the power to choose the people we hold accountable for the next four years.
