At [AFSP]([link removed]), our mission is to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide.

This week, September 8–14, is National Suicide Prevention Week. This moment is a powerful reminder that each and every one of us has a role to play in promoting awareness about mental health and suicide prevention.
In recognition of this important week, we're asking you to Walk With Us in the fight to stop suicide by finding an [Out of the Darkness Community Walk]([link removed]) in your area, or by [donating directly]([link removed]) to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to help us continue our mission. Our Community Walks shed light on mental health and bring hope to those affected by suicide. They also raise necessary funds that go directly toward AFSP's scientific research, public policy and advocacy efforts, and support for survivors of suicide loss. These funds also allow for the continued development and delivery of our life-saving suicide prevention education programs, created by experts and facilitated by dedicated AFSP volunteers across the country.

Participate in a Lifesaving Education Program
AFSP’s education programs help to increase understanding about mental health and suicide prevention in communities across the country. Through research, we know the importance of culturally relevant education, and we are committed to developing and delivering programs that engage diverse communities. To reflect this commitment, AFSP recently updated our flagship education program, [Talk Saves Lives: An Introduction to Suicide Prevention]([link removed]) –– a community-based presentation that offers guidance on what people can do to prevent suicide. To learn more about Talks Saves Lives and the recent revamp, you can read our [recent blog article]([link removed]).
We encourage you to connect with your local chapter at [afsp.org/chapters]([link removed]) to request a Talk Saves Lives program or become a trained presenter. You can also register to attend an in-person or virtual presentation at [afsp.org/calendar]([link removed]).
Talk Saves Lives is just one of AFSP’s many education programs, which include [It's Real]([link removed]), a series of suicide prevention education programs intended for young people, and [More Than Sad]([link removed]), a set of suicide prevention education programs designed for parents, teachers, and other school personnel. To read more about these programs, and others, you can visit our [Community Programs]([link removed]) page.
