Dear John,

The U.S. Department of Agriculture just released a new report highlighting the rise in hunger rates over the last year. That means MORE families are struggling to put food on the table and provide for their children.

Instead of working to solve this alarming issue, conservatives are trying to pass a Farm Bill that would cut $30 BILLION from nutrition assistance programs like SNAP (formally known as food stamps) over a decade. It should be a priority for ALL politicians, regardless of party, to prevent families and children from going hungry.

Tell Congress: Improve and Strengthen SNAP! [[link removed]]
Nutrition assistance programs are critical for the economic security of women, children, and families.

The USDA report also found that women and households of color have even higher rates of food insecurity than the national average, including:

* 34.7% of households with children led by a single woman
* 16.2% of women living alone
* 23.3% of Black, non-Hispanic households
* 21.9% of Hispanic households

These are people who rely on nutrition assistance programs like SNAP and will be even more at risk of going hungry if conservatives get their way. The Farm Bill should reduce food insecurity and hunger, not drive the hunger and poverty rate even higher! Tell Congress to prioritize the millions of women and individuals who rely on nutrition assistance programs to put food on the table and pass a Farm Bill that protects and strengthens SNAP.
