Federal Update
Deadline to Fund the Government Nears
Congress is back in session today, after returning from their August recess. September 30 is the deadline to finalize an agreement to fund the government for fiscal year (FY) 2025, which begins on October 1. This summer ([link removed]) the House Appropriations Committee voted to eliminate funding for the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program (TPP) and Title X Family Planning Program (Title X) from their version of the Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies (LHHS) bill. However, the Senate Appropriations Committee voted to level fund these programs in their bill.
While many people continue to struggle to access any type of reproductive health care, our policymakers should be increasing funding to programs that support our communities—not eliminating them. Please Contact your members of Congress ([link removed]) and tell them to provide robust funding for the TPP Program and Title X so everyone has the opportunity to achieve reproductive well-being.
Imagine a world where every individual has the freedom to decide if, when, and under what circumstances to get pregnant and have a child. This is the vision Power to Decide is tirelessly working toward.
Our work simply would not be possible without the generosity of community members like you. Consider increasing your impact by setting up a monthly donation today. A monthly donation is an investment in a world where all individuals have the power to decide their futures.
