A Note From the Desk of Congresswoman Letlow
We’ve just closed out a refreshing month spent back home in the Fifth District hearing from constituents and connecting with local leaders on the issues that matter most to Louisianans.
I always enjoy hearing directly from constituents from all walks of life and bringing the stories I hear on the road back to Washington to continue the critical work to move Louisiana forward.
As we head back to Washington D.C. soon, I’ll continue my efforts to keep the Fifth District the best place to live, work, and raise a family as we stay focused on access to education, healthcare, protecting taxpayers, and combatting government overreach from the Biden Administration.
Please feel free to always reach out to my office directly when you have questions, comments, or concerns. Our team is always accessible through our website by clicking here. We are here to serve you!
Sincerely,
Julia Letlow, Ph.D.
Member of Congress
OPTIONS, Inc. in Hammond is an immeasurable blessing to our communities, providing care for people with special needs and setting them up for success since 1973.
I spent the day with them touring their facilities, meeting with staff, and connecting with the individuals they care for to learn more about the services they provide. They have a range of incredible programs they offer such as gardening, art, and weaving classes… I also hear they even have bowling! Among their services, they also focus on teaching leadership skills, instilling confidence, and setting each person up toward a path to employment.
I thank them for allowing me to catch a glimpse of their one-of-a-kind organization, and encourage everyone to see the services they provide that are truly making a positive impact in our community.
There has been a lot happening in the Fifth District this month! We always prioritize taking time during the summer to see new and ongoing projects in our communities.
We are lucky to have the new St. Francis Cardiology Associates Clinic in the St. Francis Community Health Center up and running, where it will provide much-needed healthcare to Northeast Louisiana. We’re also excited for the reopening of the Hub in Monroe, where there are sure to be a handful of great concerts coming up!
It never ceases to amaze me how much our communities grow and prosper, and that is a direct reflection of the hard work and dedication of each constituent in #LA05!
This summer, we had a packed house of nine interns from the Fifth District join us in our Washington, D.C. office and Monroe office. Each summer I look forward to meeting these bright minds and hearing their stories about where they grew up, where they go to school, and what their life goals are.
They added immense value to our office and worked hard to help us serve fellow Louisianans. I wish them the best as they continue their education journeys and head out into the workforce, and I am looking forward to meeting our incoming fall interns!
I was honored to receive the Women’s Empowerment Award at this year’s LaRuE Development Summit. This Summit brings together people from Louisiana’s rural areas who are dedicated to seeing our industries prosper. This recognition means the world to me as we reflect on the incredible support and collaboration throughout our communities to move Louisiana forward. This dedication to making #LA05 and our state the best it can be motivates me to work hard and ensure our current and future generations have every opportunity to prosper.
