Happy Monday! Welcome back to another edition of our weekly Kean for Congress newsletter update!

Have you been keeping count? There are only 57 days until the Election. As November nears, we will all certainly be busy. But, if you could spare a bit of your time to help re-elect Tom, and help get the rest of our Republican ticket across the finish line, it would be greatly appreciated. We must hold this seat. The DCCC and far-left, extreme, groups are beginning to parachute into the district to work against us. We can beat them, but we need all hands on deck.

A lot has happened since last Monday's update to you. Tom participated in Labor Day activities across two counties, wrapped up the final week of his In-District work period during the Summer Congressional Recess, we launched our first TV ad of the cycle, and announced another major endorsement.

Our Field Team launched their new voter contact universe - focused on Get Out The Vote (GOTV) - and invested heavily in new volunteer recruitment. We expanded our door and phone schedules, and have have stocked-up on TK palm cards, lawn signs, and swag! More on all this hard work below. 📺 Tom Kean, Jr. Launches First TV Ad "Trust" 📺

Kean Bill Aims to Provide Extended Care Services to Spouses of Veterans

On Tuesday, Tom introduced the Home Health Aides for Veterans’ Spouses Act, a bill that would allow veterans who are over the age of 75 to defer their home health aide benefits to their spouses in extenuating circumstances. 

This legislation was inspired by a 92-year-old Berkeley Heights veteran, Mr. John O’Connor, who requested that a VA home health aide assist his wife. The VA would not permit this and rejected this veteran’s appeal numerous times despite his pleas. Spouses of veterans can only obtain VA home health aide benefits upon the passing of their veteran spouse. This issue leaves some with limited to no access to home health aide services.

“Just as veterans have given so much in service to our country, their spouses have given just as much in support and sacrifice. This commonsense legislation was a direct response to Mr. O’Connor’s concern. He was informed by the VA that the only way he would be able to pass these benefits on to his wife were to pass away himself. The VA should have the leeway to share these benefits with veterans’ spouses if the need arises.”

Field Update

This past week, Tom attended the Mendham Borough Labor Day Parade, as well as the Scotch Plains UNICO Festival with many of our great local leaders. Tom also was able to door knock in Scotch Plains with members of the Scotch Plains GOP and the candidates running locally. Later in the week, Tom hosted a Senior Town Hall at Lantern Hill in New Providence, as well as a business round table with some of the state's leading business advocates in Westfield. 

In the meantime, our Field Team was busy throughout the week recruiting new volunteers, delivering yard signs, coordinating upcoming launches, and recruiting a fall internship class.

Our door knocking program has continued with efforts covering towns like New Providence, Bridgewater, Warren, Westfield, Raritan Borough, Hillsborough, Hackettstown, and more! We also are hosting launches in coordination with our county and municipal organizations in the coming weeks in Springfield, Scotch Plains, Long Valley, Mountainside, Summit, Sparta, Washington Township, Chester Borough, Mendham Township, Raritan Township, Washington Borough, and more. Kean for Congress has expanded our phone banking efforts to three standing phone banks a week! This past week, we held our phone bank in Warren, Union, and Somerset counties. There, we launched our new phone universe to engage in conversations with our targeted Get Out The Vote (GOTV) voters. Last week alone, we matched our last week total with over 10,700 calls made! In the past two weeks, we have made over 23,000 calls to voters across both our GOTV and persuasion targets. We have a few more phone banks lined up in the coming weeks that you can join!
