LEGISLATIVE LANDING: RECAPPING IMPORTANT INITIATIVES FROM THE 118th CONGRESS

Last week, we covered the Servicemember Employment Protection Act, a bill I introduced to protect civilian job security for our Reservists and Guardsmen. This week, learn more about steps I've taken to combat the threat of our chief adversary — Communist China.

COUNTERING THE CHINESE COMMUNIST PARTY

Image

The Chinese Communist Party will stop at nothing to achieve global dominance. The CCP has worked to gain control of large sections of critical supply chains, infiltrate our national security apparatus and corrupt our education system.

To hold the CCP accountable and counter their influence, I cosponsored H.R. 7476, the Countering Communist China Act. This bill was introduced in the House in February 2024 and awaits further action.

This important bill:

  • Places trade restrictions on Chinese military and surveillance companies;
  • Empowers the U.S. Trade Representative to diversify and strengthen our supply chain;
  • Sanctions Chinese apps that steal Americans' data; and
  • Blocks federal funding to universities who receive CCP funding.
