Friend --
255.
Let that number sink
in.
This month we’ve suffered tragedy
and lives lost in El Paso, TX and Dayton, OH and now the United States
stands at a tally of 255 mass murders in just 2019 alone.
We could use this note to list out
all the reasons why this type of terrorism is plaguing our communities
but instead we want to focus on how to fix it and how to combat the
hate that is being endorsed by this current administration.
Black women leaders like our 2018
endorsed candidate, Rep. Lucy McBath(GA-6), have been at the forefront
of gun violence and gun reform for years. After losing her son Jordan
to gun violence in 2012, McBath held dual roles as the national
spokesperson for Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action
before eventually becoming a member of Congress.
We need more like her and we won’t
stop until there are more Black women leaders who can out vote and
outlaw electeds who are not willing to act and protect our
families.

put more Black women leaders on the frontlines of this debate and help
put forth action over thoughts and prayers.
Let’s demonstrate to the NRA and
those who are standing in the way to enact gun reforms to protect our
communities and nation the power of card carrying members of Higher
Heights to help elect Black women who will stand up against white
nationalism, domestic terrorism, and all forms of hate.
We must stand in this fight
together as one unified voice to fill our democracy with Black women
leaders who will continue to be ‘unbought and unbossed’.
Onward,
Glynda
