Daughter of Judge Presiding Over Trump’s “Hush Money” Case Does Paid Work for Kamala Harris’ Campaign

Post Millennial: House Chairwoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY) has demanded that a new ethics probe surrounding a potential conflict of interests between Judge Juan Merchan and his daughter Loren Merchan be investigated… According to a letter from Stefanik sent to the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct, Judge Juan Merchan’s daughter, who is the president of Authentic Campaigns Inc, may stand to benefit from the fraudulent business documents case involving GOP nominee Donald Trump (Post Millennial). Elise Stefanik: Today I filed a new judicial ethics complaint with the New York State Commission because new evidence on Kamala Harris’ most recent FEC filing shows she hired and paid Acting Justice Juan Merchan’s adult daughter’s company. This is a clear violation of the New York State Judicial Code of Conduct which dictates that a judge must recuse from a case where a relative up to and including the sixth degree has a financial interest in the outcome of the case (X). Byron York: Judge Merchan donated to the 2020 Biden campaign, and now his daughter has done paid work for the 2024 Harris campaign (X).

Bernie Sanders (I-VT) Says Kamala Harris Toning Down the Radical Rhetoric to Appeal Better to Voters
Daily Caller: Independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders said Sunday on NBC News that Vice President Kamala Harris isn’t “abandoning” the “progressive” values she campaigned on in 2020, but is instead “trying to be pragmatic” to win this November. Since becoming the Democratic presidential nominee, Harris has faced backlash from Republicans for flip-flopping on far-left policies like banning fracking, which she once advocated for (Daily Caller). PJ Media: Make no mistake about it: This is Sanders admitting that Harris is scamming the voters, not standing on principle. She’s not walking away from her left-wing values because she’s had some grand realization and evolved on the issues; she’s doing it because she thinks that’s what it’ll take to win in 2024. This is what we’ve been saying all along, and Sanders, in trying to excuse her, essentially confirmed that her moves to the center are purely an attempt to deceive voters and make her more electable (PJ Media). End Wokeness: “She has to do this to win.” Bernie Sanders admits that Kamala is hiding her Marxist ideology to win the election (X).

Nancy Pelosi Calls Trump a Coward, Thinks Trump Will Not Show Up for Debate Against Harris
The man got shot and immediately stood back up. What would Pelosi have done in that situation? Washington Examiner: Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) openly doubted that former President Donald Trump would show up to the presidential debate with Vice President Kamala Harris, scheduled for Tuesday. In an interview at TribFest, the former House speaker was asked what advice she would give the former president regarding the debate, then joking that the two are “close”… Trump has given no indication he will not show up to the debate, hosted by ABC News Sept. 10, though he has complained about the news organization’s bias (Washington Examiner). Texas Tribune: Pelosi: “Do you think he’s going to show up?” Swisher: “I do. Do you know something I don’t know?” Pelosi: “I know cowardice when I see it” (X).

Thousands of Brazilian Protesters Call for Removal of Judge Who Banned X
Financial Times: Tens of thousands of Brazilians joined an independence day rally called by members of the rightwing opposition in protest against a supreme court judge who banned Elon Musk’s social media platform X in the country. Dressed in the national colors of yellow and green, attendees at Saturday’s demonstration in Sao Paulo held posters demanding the removal of justice Alexandre de Moraes, who has attracted controversy for a wide-ranging crackdown on digital disinformation… It affected some 20mn users and marked an escalation of a months-long row over takedown decrees between Musk and Moraes, whom the tech entrepreneur has accused of censorship (Financial Times). Mario Nawfal: Brazilians rise up together against the tyranny of Alexandre de Moraes and his X ban (X).

Governor Newsom Vetoes Bill Allowing Illegals Access to $150,000 to Purchase Homes
Fox News: California Gov. Gavin Newsom vetoed a controversial bill that would have given hundreds of thousands of dollars in housing loans to illegal immigrants. Last month, the California legislature advanced AB 1840, known as the “California Dream for All” loan program, which would have given illegal immigrants up to $150,000 in first-time homeownership loans — a bill that if signed into law would have given first-time homebuyers up to 20% of a home’s value or up to $150,000 as down payment assistance (Fox News). Newsweek: Some conservatives questioned Newsom’s reasoning behind the veto, given the governor’s support of Vice President Kamala Harris’ bid for the White House in November. Immigration has polled as a core issue among voters this election cycle (Newsweek). Charlie Kirk: Make no mistake, Gavin Newsom is okay with this program. What he’s not okay with is having this insanity tied to fellow California radical Kamala Harris while she’s running for president. He knows this policy is wildly unpopular with 85% of the country. This was a Presidential Election political calculation, not some sudden burst of moderation from Newsom (X).

NYC Gives Illegals $4,000 to Move Into Permanent Housing From Shelters
They are paying them to leave. News Nation: The city of New York has given 150 migrant families up to $4,000 each to leave city shelters and move into permanent housing as part of a grant program using “leftover” city funds. The program called Asylee Moveout Assistance was launched in December with little public exposure and attention and is modeled on a similar city grant program that provides up to $4,000 for residents of city shelters to help pay for moving costs called “enhanced one-shot deals,” reported Gothamist. The one-time grants have been provided to asylum-seeking families and pregnant women who live at 62 emergency Department of Homeless Services shelters and have secured their own permanent housing, city spokesperson Neha Sharma told the outlet. The funds are coming from “leftover” money from existing budgeted Department of Homeless Services contracts with nonprofit shelter operators, who also run the grant program (News Nation). National Review: The effort comes as New York City mayor Eric Adams has predicted that the migrant crisis will cost the city $10 billion over the three-year period ending in June 2025, as the city’s shelter population has tripled since he took office in 2022 (National Review).

Parents in Colorado Sue School District for Assigning Daughter a Trans Roommate on School Trip
Denver Post: Colorado parents whose daughter went on a Jefferson County Public Schools trip and was assigned to share a bed with a transgender girl filed a federal lawsuit this week over the situation. Under Jeffco Public Schools’ policy, trip supervisors assign students to overnight accommodations with other students based on gender identity rather than the sex assigned at birth. It’s part of the district’s effort to reduce the “stigmatization” of transgender students and ensure equal opportunities for all students while also protecting privacy. The lawsuit filed this week by the Alliance Defending Freedom, a Christian legal advocacy group, argues that parents must be notified in advance and allowed to make sure their children are assigned to rooms with students of the same sex (Denver Post). Alliance Defending Freedom: Undeterred, JeffCo has said it will continue to assign students to hotel rooms, cabins, and other overnight accommodations by gender identity as it has been. The school district also refused to provide an accommodation for students attending trips such as Outdoor Lab if they are uncomfortable or it violates their religious beliefs to stay in an intimate setting with a student of the opposite sex. And JeffCo has said that it will not agree to notify parents, or students, in advance that this is district policy, thereby preventing parents from making informed decisions for their children (Alliance Defending Freedom).

Alan Dershowitz: “I am no longer a Democrat”
New York Post: Renowned legal scholar Alan Dershowitz recently announced that he is leaving the Democratic Party, after being “disgusted” by what he witnessed at last month’s Democratic National Convention. The retired Harvard Law School professor, who is a longtime self-described liberal Democrat, told radio host Zev Brenner on Aug. 23 that he felt the Chicago gathering was “the worst convention in American history” because of the number of speakers who have publicly expressed opposition to Israel… Dershowitz argued the Democratic Party gave anti-Israel arguments “legitimacy” by allowing those that espouse them to speak at the convention (New York Post). Benny Johnson: Lifelong Democrat Alan Dershowitz: “I am no longer a Democrat” (X). Jerusalem Post: While describing US President Joe Biden as a friend with whom he shared a long history, Dershowitz criticized the “chutzpah” of the president for claiming the outside pro-Palestinian  protesters, “who were tearing down fences,” “demanding Hamas” and “burning American flags,” “may have good points.” “There were no fine people standing outside of the convention center and screaming ‘Hamas will win,’ ‘we are all Hamas’ screaming ‘there was nothing wrong with October 7’…” Dershowitz said, drawing comparisons to what he claimed was misreporting of former-US President Donald Trump’s comments on there being good people on both sides of the neo-Nazi march in Charlottesville (Jerusalem Post).

The U.S. is keeping in place a restriction on Ukraine firing American-made long-range missiles into Russia (Washington Examiner). Townhall: Despite receiving hundreds of millions of dollars in U.S. aid, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has complained that the aid is coming in too slowly for his liking. He will attend the Ukraine Contact Defense Group meeting to lobby for faster aid deliveries, particularly air defense and long-range arms (Townhall).

Former VP Dick Cheney Endorses Kamala Harris
Associated Press: Former Vice President Dick Cheney, a lifelong Republican, will vote for Kamala Harris for president, he announced Friday. Liz Cheney, who herself endorsed Harris on Wednesday, first announced her father’s endorsement when asked by Mark Leibovich of The Atlantic magazine during an onstage interview at The Texas Tribune Festival in Austin. Like his daughter, Dick Cheney has been an outspoken critic of former President Donald Trump, notably during Liz Cheney’s ill-fated reelection campaign in 2022 (Associated Press). Trump War Room: Dana Bash: You don’t think Dick Cheney’s endorsement is going to make a difference? Tom Cotton: I really don’t. Some of this is probably because Donald Trump beat his daughter by 39 points (X). Maze: According to Joe Biden, Dick Cheney is the most dangerous Vice President in American history. Cheney supports Kamala Harris. Seems about right (X). Meghan McCain: Seeing all of these extreme progressives suddenly become Dick Cheney fans is objectively hilarious (X).
