The Rice’s whale - also known as the “Gulf of Mexico whale” since they only exist in the northern Gulf of Mexico - are one of the most endangered species in the world. In fact, there are fewer than 100 Rice’s whales left remaining in existence.
The BP Oil spill put these whales in danger, but Donald Trump made it worse when his Administration released a study that significantly underestimated the risks of offshore oil and gas drilling to the critically endangered Rice's whale and other wildlife.
Thankfully, after 4 years, a federal judge recently struck down the Trump-era assessment that put these whales in jeopardy. But if Trump wins, he could continue undermining our endangered marine life in favor of more Oil and Gas drilling.
John, it has taken 4 years to get this one single Trump-era policy rolled back in court. That’s 4 years that these critically endangered whales will never get back.
But imagine what Trump could do if he is re-elected without the threat of losing another election and immune from prosecution when he breaks the law. He will be completely undeterred from wreaking havoc on our environment and it could take many, many more years to roll back what he will do if given a second term.
