Because of you and millions worldwide, we were able to gather virtually on Denim Day to raise awareness and dispel myths about sexual violence, harassment, assault and rape.
Denim Day is Peace Over Violence’s largest annual awareness and fundraising campaign, bringing attention to the crucial work that we do every day. Lifeline organizations like Peace Over Violence and the individuals behind them are going to be essential as we respond, recover and heal from the COVID-19 pandemic. We support survivors of all ages and genders, along with their families and diverse communities-- especially those who are the most vulnerable in this global health and economic crisis.
For 50 years, Peace Over Violence has been a visionary agency at the forefront of social justice movements, pushing for mainstream society to center domestic and sexual violence issues impacting marginalized communities. We cannot go back. We remain committed to uplifting and supporting survivors, educating and raising awareness, and teaching prevention--so that we can eventually end sexual and domestic violence in all its forms.
The COVID-19 crisis has had a direct impact on fundraising for Peace Over Violence and our sister agencies. Some funders have pivoted away from these issues; governments and public entities have had to cut their budgets. We need to ensure that our crucial safety net stays whole.
That's why we need you. With your donation, we will continue to meet our community’s needs in every way we can.
In Solidarity,
Shirley Alvarado del Aguila
