I can't stop thinking about the issues weighing on Texas families right now: Gun violence, being able to afford uniforms and school supplies, transportation, quality education for every child, child care for working parents, safety and access to health care – and that's just for starters. 

And here's the thing, John: These are bread-and-butter issues for our communities – and they're issues that Ted Cruz is ignoring as he focuses on his podcast and advancing his star power.

I understand the importance of leaving a better Texas for our children, because every day I go to work thinking about my own two boys and the kind of state – the kind of country – I want to build for them.
