John,
Republicans in Congress are gearing up to extend Trump’s disastrous 2017 tax cuts, a giveaway that only benefits billionaires and big corporations.
The numbers don’t lie. From 2018 to 2022, America’s largest corporations funneled an $4.4 trillion into stock buybacks and dividends, enriching wealthy shareholders at the expense of everyone else. These same corporations often pay little to no taxes.
Yet, Republicans in Congress are pushing to make these handouts permanent while using the ballooning debt as an excuse to gut Social Security and Medicare. It’s time for Congress to focus on real tax reform that benefits the majority of working people, not the 1%.
Letting these tax cuts expire as planned could generate trillions in revenue. We need that money to invest in healthcare, education, and job creation — not to line the pockets of the richest households.
Tell Congress: Let the Trump-GOP tax cuts for the rich expire, and prioritize reforms that help working families.
If they succeed, Republicans will add a staggering $5 trillion to our national debt while putting Social Security, Medicare, education, and critical services on the chopping block.
The corporate tax rate was slashed from 35% to 21%, costing us $1.3 trillion in revenue over the next decade. Meanwhile, billionaires pocketed huge breaks, some saving hundreds of millions a year, while working people got scraps.
If we don’t act now, the GOP will cement these unfair cuts and plunge our economy into further inequality. Instead of extending tax breaks for millionaires, we should be raising taxes on the wealthiest and closing the loopholes corporations exploit to dodge their fair share.
We need to expand tax credits like the Child Tax Credit and Earned Income Tax Credit, which actually help working families make ends meet.
Tell Congress to reject the extension of Trump’s tax cuts. It’s time for real reform that benefits the many, not just the few.
Let’s put an end to this trillion-dollar giveaway to the rich.
