Dear Neighbor,
As I prepare to head back to Washington, DC this week, I do so armed with input from constituents. Since the beginning of August, I’ve had the privilege of speaking with countless neighbors through public forums, individual meetings, tours of local small businesses and roundtable discussions. The overwhelming consensus in each of these interactions is that Americans struggling to make ends meet, are growing frustrated with the lawlessness caused by Biden-Harris’s reckless border policies, and are worried about rising aggression from our adversaries around the globe. I will continue working to advance solutions to these concerns as we work to restore an America First agenda. Please continue reading to learn more about my efforts on your behalf.
Restoring Fiscal Responsibility: The failed economic policies of the Biden-Harris Administration are continuing to have a negative impact on millions of Americans. We are reminded of Biden-Harris induced inflation every time we shop for groceries, turn on the air conditioning, or pay the mortgage. Unfortunately, we now must spend $17,000 more per year to purchase the same goods and services as when the Biden-Harris Administration took office. We need to restore fiscal sanity!
Securing our Border: Recent reports indicate that there have been more than 1.8 million known “gotaways” at the southern border with Biden and Harris at the helm. God only knows how many of those people wish to do us harm!
Instead of enforcing the rule of law and securing our border, the Administration continues to encourage unlawful entry through incentive programs and erects barriers that keep the public from grasping the full extent of their recklessness. Most recently, the Administration has refused to reveal the nationalities of those migrants on the terror watchlist who have been nabbed at the border. Americans deserve transparency about the millions of Americans that have invaded our country as a result of the reckless Biden-Harris border policies. I will keep pushing for the answers they deserve.
Advancing Cures: I recently had the chance to meet with the world renowned Parkinson's specialist, Dr. Michael Okum, and his students from the University of Florida. Dr. Okum is making tremendous progress in advancing better treatments and a potential cure for this debilitating disease. I look forward to continuing to support his work.
Raising Awareness Mental health is an important part of overall wellness. September is Suicide Prevention Month, an important time to check in on the people you care about. You can find the warning signs of a mental health condition here. Also, if you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, you can always call the Suicide Prevention Hotline at 988.
Also, as we are closing in on the peak of hurricane season, being in the know means more than just checking the weather. It is important to know if you live in an evacuation zone and understand your home’s ability to withstand heavy wind and rain. Knowledge is power and helps you make informed decisions!
Community Connection
I am fortunate to have a team of dedicated staff who regularly attend events throughout our community, especially when I am required to be in Washington, DC. Through their collective efforts, I am better able to stay connected to the issues that matter most to my constituents. As part of my commitment to developing a better understanding of the issues facing constituents in Citrus, Hernando and Pasco counties, members of my team attended several events last week. Here are a few highlights.
My team delivered donated school supplies to Hernando High School to help at-risk students start their school year off right.
My team also participated in this month's Hernando Homeless Coalition meeting. We are committed to helping improve collaboration to ensure those at-risk of homelessness have access to all available resources in the community.
Additionally, my team enjoyed attending last month's King's Bay Rotary Club meeting in Crystal River. It was wonderful to learn about all the exciting projects these Rotarians are working on.
Constituent Corner
My team recently received this note after helping one of our constituents resolve a problem with her passport.
I just wanted to thank you all for your help on getting my passport all sorted out. I just received my passport today from the Miami Passport Agency. They had called and apologized for their mistake on my application. I truly appreciate all the help that went into getting this to me quickly.
This is just one example of the work we do each day. Constituent services are a critical element of our congressional office. The federal government is a massive operation, and my office is available if you ever need assistance in navigating the bureaucracy or cutting through red tape. We are here to serve you! |
