While Fox News isn’t my first TV station of choice, there was a piece on our race this week that I found very interesting.

Look at some of these quotes:

"The Senate race in Michigan has emerged as a much bigger Republican pickup opportunity than originally imagined..."

"It seems like Michigan may be a little bit more competitive than Ohio."

"Rogers has demonstrated his race as one of the closest this cycle."

Now, everyone that pays even a little bit of attention to Michigan politics knows this race will be close. So when you see a piece like this you have to ask yourself why? And why Fox News? The answer, like so many in this day and age, is totally political.

In the age of super PACs, the big third-party political organizations that support parties and candidates, this kind of article is meant as a signal. It’s trying to send a message to top Republican donors on where to send and spend their money. Look again at this quote: "It seems like Michigan may be a little bit more competitive than Ohio." This is to tell these donors that it is worth surging your donations to this still-very-competitive race.

The good news is that we are prepared for something like this. But while no one will ever campaign harder than I will, this is not something I can do alone.

So while I do not expect you to donate in response to every fundraising email we send, I do hope given my expectation of increased spending against us, you will give to this one.

Any chance you’re willing to contribute directly to my campaign for U.S. Senate in Michigan? Help us counter the outside spending looking to turn Michigan red in our race and in the presidential race, as well.
