Friend,

Our immigrant community has been hit especially hard by this pandemic. Many have lost their jobs but are not eligible for the relief provided by the federal government. Many do not have access to affordable, quality health care and live in communities that are hot spots for the virus. Now the President is using this crisis to continue his disastrous anti-immigrant policies and frighten a community that has already been disparately impacted.

To our immigrant community, I want you to know – we will work to keep you safe and protected, and we will fight for you.

My office has compiled a resource page for immigrants and refugees, which is available in multiple languages. It includes information about health care and health benefits, paid sick leave and paid family leave benefits, stimulus payments, and more.

I cannot emphasize this enough – regardless of your immigration status, you should not hesitate to seek medical care if you are injured, sick, need routine care, develop COVID-19 related symptoms, or have been exposed to the virus. Call your doctor or community health center. They are open and here for you.

For those of us who want to help, there are many great organizations in Massachusetts stepping up to support the most vulnerable during this crisis, including our immigrant communities. If you are able, please consider making a contribution to support their efforts. You can find a list of organizations and how to contribute here.

We’re continuing to stand with our immigrant communities. Please contact my office if you have any questions about your rights. We are here for you, and we will never stop fighting for you.

All my best,
Maura
