When President Biden called to say he was no longer going to run for reelection and was endorsing me instead, I was filled with gratitude -- humbled by his endorsement and with the outpouring of support from grassroots donors across the country.

So today, I wanted to share some behind-the-scenes moments from that day and the people that helped make our success possible.

It was a typical Sunday. My family was staying with us and we had just had pancakes, and we were about to do a puzzle when the phone rang. It was Joe Biden.

And then everything changed.

One of the first donations came seconds after the President endorsed me. It was from Victoria, a cosmetologist from Wilkesboro, North Carolina. She gave $25.

Just seconds later, Sharon from Walnut Creek, California, donated $12 of her own. At just about the same time, Alberta who works security in Kingstree, South Carolina, added $10.

And we were off...

By the end of the day, we had received more than 500,000 individual donations, and the momentum has not stopped. Just yesterday, we announced a record number of donations in the month of August -- each one coming from a person who has their own motivations and story to tell about their help.

Your support is humbling.

While I have no doubt we can raise the kind of money it will take to win, we haven't done it yet. Far from it.

The record number of donations we have received has put us in a strong position to win this race. It means the world to me.
