John,

Today, my grandmother Lucile turns 107! Born in 1917, she entered a world where women couldn't even vote.

Now, a century later, she's watching Republicans try to erase the progress she's witnessed in her lifetime.

This woman is my hero, and I often find myself in awe of the incredible journey she's been on.

Three images of David’s grandmother Lucile in a collage. On top is Lucile sitting by the piano in a white sweater and black beaded necklace. Overlaid is a Happy Birthday banner with cartoon balloons. On bottom left is an image of David’s grandmother and grandfather, who is holding David as a child. On bottom right is an image of Lucile recently, standing in front of a voting precinct.

Lucile has lived through some of the most pivotal moments in American history - from gaining the right to vote to seeing her grandson become Idaho's first openly gay Senate candidate.

But today, on her 107th birthday, there's a shadow over our celebration (don’t worry, we will NOT let it spoil her day!).

In just 59 days, on November 5th, we face an election that could determine whether we continue to move forward or slide backward into a past my grandmother thought we'd left behind.

John, this is not okay. This woman who has lived such a beautiful life and fought so hard for our rights should not have to think about this.

Two years ago, we watched as the Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade, erasing a right that didn't exist when my grandmother was born.

Now, as more of the Republicans' extremist agenda unfolds, we're left wondering: what's next? Voting rights? Access to contraception? Marriage equality?

My grandmother has even voiced her fear that the rollback of LGBTQIA rights could impact me as a single gay parent of two wonderful boys, potentially tearing our family apart and end with her losing her great-grandchildren. These aren't abstract concerns - they're very real threats posed by Republicans in Congress, including my opponent, Mike Simpson.

That's why I'm running to flip this House seat in Idaho’s 2nd.

I refuse to let my grandmother watch as all the rights her generation fought for are washed away by a radical Republican agenda.

She taught me to leave the world better than I found it, and I intend to honor that lesson.

With less than two months left until the election, we need your help now more than ever.

Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to preserving the progress of the last century and building a better future for generations to come.

Will you join us in this fight? Your support today could make all the difference in flipping Idaho's 2nd District and protecting the rights my grandmother has spent a lifetime seeing established.

Please help me celebrate Lucile’s 107th birthday by contributing $107 (or whatever is in your budget!) to our campaign to flip ID-02 today:

Happy birthday, Grandma! I love you so much! And to you reading this, John, we appreciate you so very much.

For my family and yours,

-David

David Roth is a single, gay dad running for Idaho’s Second Congressional District. We’re going up against a GOP incumbent who has been in this seat for 25 years. It’s time for change in Idaho, and our grassroots campaign is building on the momentum that began in David’s race for U.S. Senate last cycle. The GOP is not planning to defend this seat, so we plan to take it from them and help Democrats retake the House majority next year. We’d love your support to build a solid campaign to bring progress to Idaho and the country.
