Friends,
“I’ve always been a proud Hoosier, but even today on the tour behind a mask
you could probably detect that I was smiling ear to ear.” – Governor Holcomb
Today, Governor Holcomb joined Vice President Mike Pence to see firsthand the
extraordinary work that Hoosiers are leading in Kokomo. It’s truly a great
American (and Hoosier!) story of overcoming seemingly insurmountable barriers
to achieve the impossible.
In just 17 days, American auto giant General Motors and medical device
company Ventec Life Systems have come together with a plant right here in
Indiana to produce not automobiles, but life-saving ventilators.

Said About These Hoosier Heroes

They’ve already produced 600 of these devices that are critical to treat
people who are very sick from COVID-19. And they’ll be producing 30,000
ventilators by the end of August.
As Governor Holcomb said, “It’s almost miraculous, but for the fact that it’s
Hoosiers that came running.”
Along with our doctors, nurses and other medical professions, these Hoosiers
are heroes!
And you can be a hero, too. General Motors is currently looking to hire more
than 1,000 Hoosiers in Kokomo to help produce these live-savings ventilators.

America is waging a battle against COVID-19, and Indiana’s work is critical to
making sure we win.
“Standing here in the Hoosier State… I couldn’t be more inspired. And I wanted
to say thank you, not just as your vice president, but as a fellow Hoosier.” –
Vice President Mike Pence
