It’s happening.
Now that we’re in the general election here in Massachusetts, we just discovered that conservative, crypto-funded groups are starting to place six-figure ad buys against me — spreading misinformation to voters to prop up my Republican opponent.
Some of the funders behind those ads are crypto investors like the Winklevoss brothers — Yes those guys from The Social Network — because they’re upset that I’ve called for fair regulations around the industry that protect working people.
This is a strategy that continues across the country: Powerful special interests use their giant piles of money to influence elections by buying onslaughts of advertising against candidates who threaten their bottom line. We’ve got to stop this from happening in Massachusetts because the Senate majority — and the future of abortion rights — could be decided by a single seat. And these far-right and rich special interests are trying to buy this one to tilt power in their favor.
Look, I’m sick of the outsized influence of special interest money in elections. I’m fighting to end this corrupt system where our democracy is sold to the highest bidder. But first, we’ve got to fight back and defeat these special interests targeting us.
We need to fight back — now. I’m not turning to billionaire donors to fund our campaign, because with grassroots campaigns that are accountable to the people, we can make our government accountable to the people. So if you’re able, please pitch in a donation of $28 or anything you can right now so we can compete, win, and defend our Senate majority. |
