Dear Friends,
My Congressional District grew from just a thousand farms to more than 4,500, with 93% of them family-owned. This is an important year for farmers as Congress debates the Farm Bill, a comprehensive legislative package passed roughly every five years that impacts food production, resources for rural communities, and food security programs. During my farm tour across the Second District, I met with farmers to discuss their needs and priorities for the next Farm Bill.
IL-02 Barn Hall
I hosted a Barn Hall meeting in Dwight to engage directly with our farmers and agricultural leaders, listening to their most pressing concerns for the next Farm Bill. From funding agricultural innovations to supporting family farms, I remain committed to championing Illinois farmers.
Visit to Spence Farm
I visited Spence Farm, the oldest farm in Livingston County, established in 1830. Today, they connect over 60 farms with chefs, grocers, and institutions, providing fresh, healthy food to communities.
Preparing the Next Generation of Farmers
In 1999, the Stewart family opened Run-A-Way-Buckers to help at-risk youth experience a free summer camp rooted in agriculture, life skills, and mentorship. What a phenomenal opportunity for children in the Second District.
