$1.257 million dollars could be going toward a new tool for Dothan law enforcement and first responders.
The ShotSpotter Gunfire Location, Alert and Analysis System’s goal centers itself around assisting response to violent crime in the city.
The detection services uses acoustic sensors to discover and locate gunfire. It then reports that information to responding agencies in real time.
“The speed and accuracy of information makes a world of difference for law enforcement officers and first responders when they’re working diligently to protect and serve our communities,” said U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-AL), who is helping with getting the funding for Dothan to go towards the system.
