Major Wins in Oklahoma, Massachusetts and Washington!
In results certified Wednesday, LGBTQ+ Victory Fund candidate Dave Upthegrove officially advanced from the August 6 primary election for Public Lands Commissioner in Washington state! With a general election victory in November, Dave will become the first out LGBTQ+ statewide executive official in Washington state history!
We’re thrilled to announce that incumbent candidate Laura Bellis crushed her reelection to the Tulsa City Council in Oklahoma! Laura won her race with over 76% of the vote.
In the Massachusetts primaries, Natalie Higgins, John Moran, Adam Scanlon, and Samantha Montaño were all unopposed for the Massachusetts House of Representatives, while Julian Cyr and Will Brownsberger were also unopposed in the Massachusetts State Senate.
Meanwhile, both incumbent candidate Jack Patrick Lewis and Thomas Moakley won their competitive primaries for the State House!

In Rhode Island, Spotlight candidate Giona Picheco is running against anti-choice, anti-LGBTQ+ Democratic incumbent Charlene Lima, for the Rhode Island General Assembly. Lima has been in her position since 1992, and Giona fell short by 172 votes in the 2022 primary. This year's rematch offers an opportunity to elect Rhode Island's first out trans state legislator!
