Dear Green American, Allies of the fossil fuel industry are once again trying to make it easier to pollute, hurting the air communities breath, the water communities drink, and making the climate crisis worse. The Energy Permitting Reform Act is yet another attempt by Senator Manchin and other fossil fuel industry allies to roll back popular and common-sense oil and gas reforms, fast track liquefied natural gas (LNG) export approvals, and overhaul bedrock environmental laws like the National Environmental Policy Act, in exchange for provisions that could help accelerate renewable energy development. This legislation is a fossil fuel industry wish list that will harm communities by fast-tracking LNG export approvals, permitting more oil and gas development, and rolling back commonsense reforms finalized by the Biden Administration. The harmful fossil fuel industry giveaways in this bill should make all members of Congress who claim to care about environmental justice and the climate oppose it. Tell your Senators to oppose this dangerous legislation and instead support real solutions to climate change and protect communities from pollution. |
