Dear John,
I wish I didn't have to write you today. But yet again, we are grieving a horrific and preventable tragedy—this time occurring just days into the new school year at Apalachee High School in Georgia, where four people were killed, families broken, and a community devastated by gun violence.
The shooter at Apalachee High School was armed with a weapon of war – the same type used in countless mass shootings across America. These dangerous weapons have no place in our society, let alone in our schools. Yet, our lawmakers choose to not act, putting us all at risk.
As a parent, I can’t help but feel the rage and frustration that we all share. How many more children must we lose before our country decides enough is enough? How many more schools need to be the backdrop for unspeakable tragedy before our leaders take action?
At the Alliance, we’ve fought tirelessly to prevent moments like this. But we cannot do it alone – we need you with us. This tragic event reminds us how urgent our work is to put an end to gun violence in every corner of our country.
If you are outraged, help us continue our fight to end gun violence once and for all by making a donation today.
