Tell Attorney General Josh Stein to ensure the North Carolina Utilities Commission (NCUC) holds Duke Energy to the law!» nclcv.org/common-sense-energy-efficiency-sb166?contactdata=S2ATH1Rf9p6uX7yUGATbb1C2l9B69qwrRYG+jisPYrBMKEu628hZxTkmD/5N1Iy6nPJaENgYplEVVgaMshqv6ldILc1qu5kVpu1qLS6emGMOYdWlDNz9fHIbS8gaT+5xrAK+sJpCLbpXoAnZuGEHNCfj1tzuR+5L6G1Qtmry9tSAn/ATwHebLJbdA52T1lsC
Hey John,
Some bad news folks. The pro-polluter majority will be back in session next week (Sept. 9th) and there’s a chance they could override Governor Cooper’s veto of Senate Bill 166 (SB 166). This terrible bill–pushed by developers–aims to weaken building codes and thus energy efficiency. These requirements for builders save you and me money and reduce our energy use.
Will you help us make sure your senator will uphold the Governor’s veto of SB 166?

In Governor Cooper’s statement he said: “By limiting options for energy efficiency and electric vehicles, this legislation prevents North Carolina’s building code from adopting innovations in construction and mobility that save consumers money. This bill also removes subject matter experts from the building code council, including architects, active fire service, a coastal expert, local government officials, and public at large membership, and limits the knowledge and practical experience of the body tasked with ensuring all buildings are safely designed.”
Join us in asking legislators to uphold these measures and help NC improve our energy efficiency. It’s imperative that North Carolina’s energy codes are updated so that community members aren’t shouldering the cost of higher energy bills.
