Friend,

I have been making the most of the August work period, and spending as much time as possible out on the road to meet with Iowans. I just completed another 22 County Tour, once again visiting every county in Iowa’s Second Congressional District to hear from Iowans of all walks of life.

Whether visiting farms, walking down Main Streets, touring medical centers, meeting with health care professionals, or going to community organizations, I am so grateful to all Iowans who share their experiences and concerns with me.

I have also held a town hall in every county in our district. Whether we agree or disagree on the issues, Iowans will always know where I stand and why. I will always provide transparent updates and an unfiltered view of what’s happening in Washington and make sure I am coming directly to folks in their everyday lives so I can see their challenges firsthand and work on tailored, pragmatic solutions in Congress.

I will continue to be a strong voice for Iowans and our values and hold this Administration accountable for policies that hurt Iowans. Read on for highlights from the last leg of my 22 County Tour!

Best,

Sunflower Child Care Center

Sunflower Child Care Center provides exceptional care and early learning opportunities in Winneshiek County. I was proud to secure federal funding to help Sunflower expand so more families can access quality child care. It was amazing to see this long-awaited project come to life.

The Buck Stops Here

Originally a popular food truck, childhood friends Owen Buckmaster and Tim Wagner eventually decided to open The Buck Stops Here on Lansing’s Main Street. The food is great and I loved hearing more about their small business success story!

Unionland Feed and Food Market

At Unionland Feed and Food Market, you can stock up on many locally-made food items and pick up feed for your livestock and pets. It was great to visit their market last week to learn about their unique business model and hear how they support local farmers.

Edgewood Locker

I really enjoyed touring Edgewood Locker and hearing more about the recent expansion of their meat processing facilities and retail space. We must ensure small business owners can continue doing what they do best without big government getting in the way!

BHFO Distribution Center

It was great to visit the BHFO distribution center and meet with top eBay seller, Stacie Sefton. Stacie started the online business in her basement and has grown it to a 250,000-square-foot facility in Cedar Rapids! I will continue working to ensure entrepreneurs and small business owners are able to grow and thrive without the heavy hand of government in the way.

Iowa Association of Realtors

I met with the Iowa Association of Realtors to discuss ways we can help Iowans achieve the dream of homeownership. By cutting red tape and taxes, more Iowans will be able to buy homes and raise their families comfortably in Iowa.

HACAP with Secretary Mike Naig

HACAP does incredible work to lift families up and fight food insecurity across Iowa. Secretary Mike Naig and I met with their team this week to highlight the Choose Iowa Food Purchasing Program and discuss ways we can strengthen families across our state while connecting local farmers with food banks to provide fresh produce to families in need.
