Lt. Gov. Crouch panelist at Hunt Institute's
'Early Childhood Leadership' Summit
STATEHOUSE (Sept. 6, 2024) ?Indiana Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch participated on a panel discussion this week at the Hunt Institute's annual Early Childhood Leadership Summit in Las Vegas. The summit?s purpose is to hear from national resource experts and panelists who discuss early childhood innovations and policy successes for young children, families, the early?childhood workforce, as well as state economic implications.
The Early Childhood Summit, which was created by former North Carolina Governor Jim Hunt, is an invitation-only, bipartisan gathering of state teams comprised of senior elected officials, gubernatorial staff, mayors, local elected leaders and key early childhood system leaders from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Crouch participated in the Financing Strategies for Early Childhood Policy Panel along with New Mexico Lt. Gov. Howie Morales. Their discussion explored inventive approaches to financing that can bolster and maintain the efficacy of early childhood policies, laying a solid groundwork for the well-being and development of future generations.
?It was an honor to be invited by the Hunt Institute to participate in this year?s Early Child Summit,? said Crouch, Indiana?s Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development. ?To be able to share what Indiana is doing and, for me, to learn what other states are successfully doing in the area of early childhood development is very important to me.?
Long an advocate for early childhood development, Lt. Gov. Crouch was the co-author of legislation in 2013 that created the On My Way Pre-K Program in 2013 when she was a state representative. The program is now offered in all 92 counties.
Crouch is an active Hunt-Kean Leadership Fellow. This Hunt Institute program provides political leaders from across the country with the knowledge they need to cultivate smart and effective education agendas.
Travel expenses and accommodations to allow the lieutenant governor to participate in the summit were paid for by the Hunt Institute.
