Look at this text message exchange between a student at Apalachee High School in Georgia and their parent earlier this week.
Another school year. Another school shooting.
Once again, Americans turned on the television to heartbreaking images of children being led away from their school, while parents rushed toward the school terrified of what they might learn when they arrived.
This doesn't happen anywhere else in the developed world, and we know how to fix it here:
Universal background checks, an assault weapons ban, raising the federal minimum age to buy a firearm, and a reasonable waiting period for gun purchases.
If Republicans in Congress won't act, if the courts won't let us act, then it's time for a Constitutional Amendment to make us safer from gun violence.
When state legislatures come back into session after this election, we are hoping to make a strong push to get our Constitutional Amendment on guns discussed and hopefully introduced.
But it will only happen if there is grassroots pressure to do-so. And the first step is making your voice heard. So I am asking:
Can you please add your name as a Citizen Co-Sponsor of a Constitutional Amendment to make our communities safer from gun violence? We'll make sure your legislature knows you support the measure.
