<[link removed]> <[link removed]>Hi,
As we marvel at the glamorous displays of haute couture this New York Fashion Week, we can anticipate that cheap, polyester reproductions of the upcoming seasons’ styles will show up on the front page of fast fashion sites and into the landfill before you know it.
Fast fashion juggernauts such as SHEIN lead an epidemic of oversupply, adding up to ten thousand new items a day at the cost of human rights violations and environmental destruction.1,2 In fact, a recent study cataloged 1.3 million new products launched by Shein in just one year.3 Up to 40% of the billions of garments produced every year globally aren’t even sold.4 Owing to poor quality and rapidly changing microtrends, for every 5 garments produced each year, the equivalent of another 3 are being disposed of, with 92 million tons of textile waste generated per year. 5,6
It’s clear: we cannot go on like this.
