Viking Lakes
*Viking Lakes Event Noise*

Viking Lakes is a mixed-use master development located near the intersection of Highway 494 and Dodd Rd. in Eagan. The development features a destination venue for year-round entertainment including sporting events, festivals and fundraising walks.

Because Viking Lakes lies directly at the border of Eagan and Mendota Heights, sound from these outdoor events can be heard by Mendota Heights residents. Atmospheric factors such as wind speed and direction, and thermal gradients in the air, cause large differences in sound transmission and affect the volume at which events are heard within the City.

If you hear sounds from an event and would like to determine the source, a calendar of events taking place at Viking Lakes can be found online.

Flagging
Roadwork Alert: Marie Avenue Bridge

Weather permitting, surface treatments on the Marie Avenue bridge between Trail Road and Sutton Lane are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, September 9 and 10.

A single lane closure will be required to perform this work; however, eastbound and westbound traffic will be permitted via flagging operations.

Identifying Non-Native Lily Pads

You may notice an abundance of waterlilies or lily pads in ponds and wetlands around Mendota Heights. Some lily pads, such as White Waterlily, are native. White Waterlilies grow rooted in pond or wetland bottoms up to five feet deep and provide shade, oxygen, and shelter for fish and other aquatic life.

Other waterlilies, often sold commercially for water gardens, are not native to Minnesota and can spread to ponds and wetlands, crowding out native aquatic vegetation. They often have colorful blooms such as pink, purple, red and yellow. Individual flowers often have many petals and bloom throughout the summer. Non-native waterlilies also have a buried rhizome that can spread aggressively.

Prevent the spread of these non-native aquatic plants by keeping them contained or refrain from purchasing. Never discard or release non-native lilies into the wild.

Park
Your Input Needed: Parks Master Plan

In a recent survey, residents shared some great ideas for Parks and Recreation improvements in our community. Now, we need to determine which ideas are feasible and how they could be funded. These include:

* Added recreation programming
* Indoor gathering space
* Improvements to park accessibility
* The development of a new park

Please share your opinion on which, if any, of these projects should be funded as part of the 15-year Parks Master Plan, with a quick 5-question survey!
