Right now, all eyes are on us – the women of Florida. Last month, a stunning 84% of Ruth’s List-endorsed candidates were successful at the ballot box during the August Primary Election, and many of these women were candidates for local office. We are keeping this momentum going by continuing to endorse and help more pro-choice women up and down the ballot ahead of the November election, but there is so much more work to be done over these next two months to organize our communities and ensure that Floridians are ready to get out and vote.
Mayor Alpert is one of only a handful of elected Democratic women in Sarasota County, now officially including Ruth’s List-endorsed Liz Barker as the county’s newest school board member-elect. Helping these women leaders is essential to keeping our momentum going in Sarasota!
Vice Mayor Tellam was first endorsed by Ruth’s List and elected to office in 2020. As an elected leader in Miami-Dade County, she is passionate about honoring the great women who came before her and mentoring and encouraging the rising stars in her community. We are thrilled to endorse her once again!
Prior to winning election to the Alachua County Commission in 2020, Commissioner Anna Prizzia dedicated herself to protecting Alachua’s natural environment and promoting sustainability. She’s an important voice on the commission for growing this community healthily and sustainably, and we are proud to endorse her campaign for re-election!
From the quality of our schools, affordable housing options, and public safety – the everyday lives of women and families are dependent on strong and serious local leadership. These women represent good governance and our mission of bettering Florida by electing women to office at every level. It is so important that they continue serving their communities. But they can’t do that without our help. Please visit their websites and get involved with their campaigns now!
