Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez just filed articles of impeachment against Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito.

For years, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito have accepted millions of dollars in undisclosed gifts from billionaires while refusing to recuse themselves from cases where they had clear conflicts of interest.1

But now Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is stepping up to hold them accountable, filing articles of impeachment against Justices Thomas and Alito.2

With the House of Representatives back in session this week, we’re demanding Congress vote on AOC’s articles of impeachment without delay.

Clarence Thomas has taken at least $4 million in gifts from right-wing billionaire Harlan Crow, including dozens of private jet flights, super-yacht trips, and helicopter rides to vacation destinations around the world.3 In addition, Crow paid the private school tuition for Thomas’s grandnephew and owns the house where Thomas’s mother lives rent-free.4

Meanwhile, Samuel Alito was caught taking a luxury vacation to Alaska worth over $100,000 paid for by Republican megadonor Paul Singer — and then refused to recuse himself in at least 10 cases in which Singer came before the court, including one that netted Singer $2.4 billion.5

Those are just two examples on the seemingly endless list of corruption scandals that have embroiled Thomas and Alito. It’s clear that the right-wing billionaires are getting their money’s worth with these two.

Thomas and Alito have led a radical right-wing revolution at the Supreme Court, overturning decades of precedent to ban abortion, gut the Voting Rights Act, toss out state and local gun safety laws, insulate Donald Trump from criminal prosecution, open the floodgates to unlimited corporate spending in elections, cripple federal agencies in charge of protecting the environment, consumers, and public health… and much, much more.

But now, with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez leading the charge to impeach Justices Thomas and Alito, we have a chance to put an end to their corruption.

Demand Progress Action has worked for years to restrain the radical right-wing takeover of the Supreme Court, and now we’re pushing to support Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s effort to impeach Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito.
