Here’s how our growing ties in Slovakia and Italy are helping our state

John, this past week, I had the great opportunity to travel to Slovakia and
Italy to strengthen our international partnerships.

I was honored to join Slovak Republic General Daniel Zmeko to commemorate the
80th anniversary of the Slovak National Uprising and to honor the sacrifice
made by the people of Slovakia and the ways we are stronger together.

I was also thrilled to see Slovakia receive its first F-16s this year, thanks
to strong partnerships with the Indiana National Guard!

Indiana and Slovakia’s strong partnership includes exchanging $1.14 million
worth of goods in 2023 alone. Slovakia also hosts business facilities of three
Hoosier companies: Berry Global Group, Eli Lilly & Company, and Green Cubes
Technology.

In Italy, I was honored to meet with President Fontana to discuss further
collaboration in advanced manufacturing and auto racing. Our two regions share
a strong trade partnership, including the importation and exportation of over
$5 billion of goods in 2023.

The strong trade partnership between Indiana and Italy has helped foster
innovations in machinery, transportation equipment, and many other sectors.
Indiana is now home to 35 Italian business centers, which help drive these
advances and support thousands of jobs.

economic partnershipshere.
