Dear Friend,
We're one week away from the highly anticipated First Illumination Ceremony at the National World War I Memorial in Washington, DC on September 13, and I'm excited to share a few updates with you.
As we prepare for the illumination of the iconic bronze sculpture "A Soldier's Journey," here are a few reasons why you should join us - either live or online - for this special occasion.
- Once installed, "A Soldier's Journey" will be the largest freestanding high-relief bronze sculpture in the Western Hemisphere. This event will mark a historic moment.
- The ceremony will not only unveil the sculpture but will also feature live performances, distinguished speakers, and a tribute to those who have shaped this Memorial.
- For those local to the DC Area, join us on September 14-15 at the National World War I Memorial for WWI Living History Weekend, sponsored by the Diana Davis Spencer Foundation. This immersive weekend of events will include displays by WWI Re-enactors, Hello Girls, a National Mobile WWI Museum, WWI Vehicles, etc.. The full schedule of activities can be found HERE.
Details about the First Illumination Ceremony and photos of our preparation are below. If you haven't already done so, please register through our event site.
With thanks,
 Dan Dayton Chairman
