Cummings, the Robert Henigson Professor of Legal Ethics at the UCLA School of Law and winner of a 2023 Guggenheim Fellow to study the role of lawyers in backsliding democracies. His recent article examines how lawyers have attacked the rule of law in America.

Professor Cummings will be interviewed by the esteemed Boston Globe Senior Opinion Writer and Columnist, Kimberly Atkins Stohr. Attorney Stohr also serves as an on-air political analyst for MSNBC, frequent panelist on NBC's Meet the Press, and co-host of the legal news podcast, #SistersInLaw.

Just as the legal profession has a role in preserving democracy, so does the media. But disinformation, false equivalencies, and incentive systems that promote anger are negatively impacting younger generations. LDAD's Executive Director joined with Amherst College junior Claire Beougher to describe these challenges and detail ways we can shift those incentives through our own actions: By focusing on outrage, the media risks alienating younger audiences.
