Sanitizing the Record of Kamala Harris

Washington Times: Vice President Kamala Harris is battling to win moderate swing state voters by burying her liberal record in the Senate. Ms. Harris served four years as the junior senator from California, establishing one of the most liberal voting records among all Democrats, including self-declared socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders. When she became vice president in 2021, her liberal voting streak continued. She cast the Senate’s tie-breaking vote a record 33 times to confirm some of the most liberal executive branch appointees and federal judges, and to pass nearly $2 trillion in federal spending that many economists blame for driving inflation to near 40-year highs. The website voteview.com, operated by University of California at Los Angeles, scored Ms. Harris as more liberal than 99% of the Senate during her time as a senator from 2017 until 2021. Ms. Harris left her legislative record far behind when she embarked on the presidential campaign trail, where a voting record to the left of Mr. Sanders won’t play to the crowds of battleground state voters whom she must win over to defeat her opponent, former President Trump (Washington Times). Albert Mohler: Kamala Harris has been politically rebranded, and, you know in political terms, you’d have to say with enormous success—and with the complicity of the mainstream media, they’re basically trying to make her the next president of the United States. It’s almost as if the instructions for the Kamala Harris nomination are just, “add water and stir,” because that’s pretty much what the Democrats have done… But if you want to know why the Democrats are so excited, it’s also because of this: Younger Democrats understand that they win if Kamala Harris wins. They didn’t feel that way about Joe Biden. Harris, they know, is a San Francisco Democrat—far to the left of Joe Biden (Townhall Review).

Musk pitched the idea of the commission during the conversation between the two on X a few weeks back. Musk posted on X that he would accept the role and not take a salary for heading up the commission (Just the News). Elon Musk: I look forward to serving America if the opportunity arises. No pay, no title, no recognition is needed (X). Wall Street Journal: The former president has long taken aim at the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act, which called for spending hundreds of billions of dollars to affect a swath of climate, healthcare and tax policies. Trial Delayed for Trump’s January 6 Indictment
Will be after the election. Fox News: Federal Judge Tanya Chutkan will not hold the trial for former President Donald Trump on charges stemming from special counsel Jack Smith’s Jan. 6 investigation until after the 2024 presidential election. Chutkan held a status hearing Thursday morning in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, in which lawyers for former President Trump pleaded not guilty on his behalf related to charges from Smith’s new indictment after the Supreme Court ruled a president is immune from prosecution for official acts in office. In an order Thursday afternoon, Chutkan set deadlines for replies and paperwork from federal prosecutors and Trump’s legal team for Nov. 7th–after Election Day. The new indictment keeps the prior criminal charges but narrows and reframes the allegations against the Republican presidential nominee after a Supreme Court ruling that conferred broad immunity on former presidents (Fox News). NBC: Pointing out that the case has been “pending for a year,” Chutkan said that the court “can’t even really contemplate a trial date” yet because of pending appellate issues…Chutkan said she would take all arguments into consideration before issuing a schedule in the case (NBC).

President Vladimir Putin Supports Kamala Harris
Just the News: President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that Russia wants Vice President Kamala Harris to win the presidential election over former President Donald Trump and made a joke about her “infectious” laugh. Putin’s statement came after the U.S. Justice Department charged two Russian media executives for funding a U.S. entity to advance pro-Russian messaging. Putin noted that Biden had recommended that his supporters vote for Harris (Just the News). Washington Post: Harris “has such an infectious laugh that it says she’s doing well,” Putin said, adding that as a result she might refrain from sanctioning Russia (Washington Post).

California Democrats’ Climate Change Agenda Driving Up Energy Costs
Just the News: California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom had hoped to ramrod through the state Legislature a proposal that would severely impact the state’s petroleum refineries. The Democratic governor claimed the measure would prevent oil companies from profiting from the state’s high energy costs, but he’s having a harder time getting the state’s lawmakers on board with the plan as with past rules. California has the second highest gas prices in the United States, and some of the most expensive electricity rates in the world. Newsom denies that his anti-fossil fuel policies have anything to do with it. According to Newsom, oil companies are just greedy. California has seen the number of refineries operating in the state decline from 43 in 1982 to just 14 this year (Just the News). National Review: California’s power prices are skyrocketing. Since 2008, electricity rates in the state have increased 3.2 times faster than the national average, far outpacing inflation. 215,000 Californians had their power shut off last year, and households owed a staggering $2.1 billion in unpaid utility bills, more than four times the amount in 2019. Sacramento’s politicians have saddled Californians with these soaring costs through misguided climate policies over the past two decades (National Review).

Huntington Beach, California to File Lawsuit Against Newsom’s Law Mandating School Districts Conceal Kid’s Gender Identity From Parents
Daily Signal: The city of Huntington Beach is set to file a lawsuit against California’s “unconstitutional” law requiring school districts to hide students’ gender identity from their parents. The Southern California beach community’s City Council passed an ordinance Tuesday night establishing itself as a “Parents’ Right to Know” city. The ordinance allows Huntington Beach city attorney Michael Gates to challenge Assembly Bill 1955, which Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom signed into law in mid-July. AB 1955 overrules any school board policies that require transparency with parents about their child’s sexual orientation or gender identity. In response, the Huntington Beach’s ordinance prohibits educators from hiding information about students’ sexual orientation or gender identity from parents (Daily Signal).

Hunter Biden Pleads Guilty to Tax Evasion
Townhall: Hunter Biden has officially pled guilty to all charges, skipping a damaging trial that could have aired all the dirty details related to the Biden family’s dealings (Townhall). National Review: He will be entering an “Alford plea” agreement where he maintains his innocence but accepts a sentence from federal judge Mark Scarsi, who has yet to sign off on the arrangement. The tax charges, three felonies and six misdemeanors, carry a maximum of 17 years in prison. Federal prosecutors were confused by Hunter Biden’s plea offer and urged Scarsi to reject it, noting that the government did not agree to the arrangement. “Hunter Biden is not innocent. Hunter Biden is guilty,” said prosecutor Leo Wise. Special counsel David Weiss is prosecuting Hunter Biden on nine federal tax charges based on his alleged failure to pay more than $1.4 million of taxes in a timely manner over a four-year period last decade. Along with tax-evasion, Biden was charged with filing false tax returns for attempting to deduct expenses incurred from his drug-fueled escapades (National Review).

Widespread Rebuke of Tucker Carlson After Hosting Guest Who Diminishes Hitler and Holocaust
Tucker Carlson knows what he is doing. Bari Weiss: If you ever find yourself defending Adolf Hitler and demonizing Winston Churchill, you should probably question the decisions you’ve made up until that point. That’s the situation that Tucker Carlson and his guest, the pseudo-historian Darryl Cooper found themselves in on Carlson’s podcast earlier this week… Cooper asserted that Churchill was a “psychopath” and the “chief villain” of World War II—and that Hitler really wanted peace but was forced into war because Churchill wanted that. Cooper argued that the Nazi death camps, where half of the more than six million Jews killed in the Holocaust were systematically murdered, were the result of the Germans taking too many “prisoners of war.” (Nazi Germany “launched a war where they were completely unprepared to deal with the millions and millions of prisoners of war. . . and they just threw these people into camps and millions of people ended up dead.”) Yes, indeed, millions of people “ended up dead…” Tucker Carlson—who is hosting and disseminating this—is not some fringe figure on the American political right… He has one of the largest, most passionate audiences of any influencer in the country… It is unclear if Cooper’s disgust toward Judaism has inspired him to turn Hitler, the monster who declared war on the free world—a war in which 400,000 Americans died fighting, and that led to the deaths of 50 million people—into a misunderstood figure. Or perhaps he sincerely believes that if the West had only appeased Hitler, “people wouldn’t have died” (Free Press).

Georgia Shooter Faces Gun-Wielding Police Officer … Immediately Surrenders
Daily Caller: Georgia law enforcement confirmed Wednesday that 14-year-old Colt Gray was arrested following an attack on his classmates at Apalachee High School earlier that morning. At least four people were confirmed to have been killed, with nine others hospitalized, according to officials. Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Director Chris Hosey and Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith confirmed during a press pool that Gray was a student at the school and that he surrendered after being encountered (Daily Caller). Libs of TikTok: Georgia Sheriff says the school shooter stopped & surrendered when confronted by an armed School Officer. Kamala says she wants to take police OUT of schools. If it were up to Kamala, she wouldn’t have wanted there to be an armed officer in the Georgia school today. That officer saved countless lives (X).

89-Year-Old Holocaust Survivor Urges Pro-Life to Endorse, Educate Donald Trump
Daily Wire: Amidst pro-life infighting over Donald Trump’s stance on abortion, one woman facing prison time for her anti-abortion activism is urging her fellow pro-lifers to back the former president. Eva Edl, an 89-year-old survivor of a communist concentration camp who was recently found guilty of charges related to praying outside of an abortion clinic, said that denouncing Trump over his views on abortion is not the best way forward for the movement. “I do not think that pro-life groups should denounce Trump, but they should rather try to educate him on the value of human life,” Edl told The Daily Wire… Edl is one of many pro-life activists recently found guilty of engaging in a conspiracy against rights and violations of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act for peacefully praying outside an abortion clinic. She survived a World War II-era death camp before escaping to the United States, and has since devoted her life to protecting unborn babies (Daily Wire).
