Dear John, As Congress considers how to respond to the global pandemic and economic fallout, tell Speaker Pelosi and the California Congressional delegation why affordable housing must be at the top of their policy priorities: | |
NPH and more than 100 leading nonprofit, cross-sector, and community organizations delivered a letter calling on Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the California Congressional delegation to directly address the COVID-19 environment in California and nationwide by: - Passing sweeping rental/debt relief for all households impacted by COVID-19, and
- Designating affordable housing as essential infrastructure in all future stimulus packages.
These proposals support our communities during the public health crisis now, as well as the economic crisis ahead — by keeping folks housed, investing in affordable housing to help millions get back on their feet, protecting people from layoffs and cutbacks, and pumping billions of dollars into our economy by creating hundreds of thousands of new jobs through affordable housing construction. Your signature and comments demonstrate to lawmakers the groundswell of support behind these necessary actions so that everyone — Black and White, Asian and Latinx, Native and newcomer — has a stable place to live, be safe, and thrive, no matter what the future holds. We're counting on organizations and constituents alike to demonstrate the power behind these proposals. Thank you for your passion and time.
