It’s official: the hand recount is complete in the race for Washington Public Lands Commissioner, and Dave Upthegrove is advancing to the general election.
This is a huge win for environmental justice – but we can’t be complacent now.
Democrat Dave Upthegrove clinched second place in the primary by just a few dozen votes over his third-place GOP opponent, making it the closest primary race in state history. And with less than 9 weeks left in the election, we must do everything we can to ensure Dave wins.
This race is a clear sign that conservatives are making significant inroads across the country, even right here in Washington.
Every single vote will count in this election. We need to organize our grassroots base right away to mobilize voters across the state to elect a true champion of environmental and social justice. Washingtonians can’t afford to have an anti-conservationist Republican in this critically important statewide office. Everything from our state’s natural resource management to wildfire mitigation is at stake.
