In the Senate, Democrats hold a razor-thin 51-49 majority. Senator Manchin is retiring, and we expect West Virginia to flip red. That puts us at a tie-breaking 50-50 Senate majority with the vice president’s vote — if we win in California, hold every other seat, and win the White House.

In the House, Republicans have their smallest majority in decades. There are more competitive seats in California alone than Republicans have votes to spare nationwide. California may be the most important state for the House majority.

And in the race for the White House, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are polling in practically a dead heat.

John, our momentum is peaking at the right time. But after my opponent Steve Garvey outraised my campaign by $1.2 million in the latest FEC reports, we’ve had to work overtime to make up lost ground.
