My name is Craig Carlson. I have been a police officer for over 25 years. I’m also Kristin’s partner. I’d like to tell you a little bit about the Kristin I know – and to ask you to join me in supporting her campaign. [link removed]

When I met Dr. Kristin Lyerly in 2020 – the height of Covid – she was running for state assembly. She was also a mentor to my daughter, who was in medical school, and asked my daughter to reach out to me to see if I would be willing to talk about what was happening at a very troubling time in policing. Not being a very political person, and believing that I leaned more to the Republican side, I was reluctant to talk with her.

I agreed to that meeting (partially because she offered beer) and it was the best decision I ever made.

During our conversation, Kristin listened. She asked hard questions. She was interested. This was not about politics. It was not Republican vs Democrat. It was about two people talking and trying to understand what was happening and what needed to change. Kristin challenged my opinions and helped me understand how I could be a better police officer – she still challenges me every day.

I’m supporting Kristin because I know she’s the right voice for northeast Wisconsin. She knows that to truly help people, you have to see situations from another perspective. I’m also supporting her because as the father of three beautiful daughters, I know she will fight to protect their right to make their own health care choices, to reduce the cost of healthcare, and to make Wisconsin strong for them and for the generations to come.

We need Dr. Lyerly in Congress. She has my vote.
