Everyone’s journey into public service is different. While that’s true for Speaker Joanna McClinton and myself, our stories have helped us both make history in the Commonwealth.
Just a few weeks after I became the first Black Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania, Joanna became the first woman speaker of the PA State House.
And before I was Lieutenant Governor, I had the honor of working alongside Joanna in the PA House. I can say without hesitation that she has always been a true champion for the people of Pennsylvania.
Whether she’s advocating for policies that uplift our communities, improving our education system, or ensuring that every Pennsylvanian has access to quality healthcare, Speaker McClinton is helping deliver on so many of the same issues I’m fighting for. Her leadership in the State House has been instrumental in advancing progressive policies that address the real needs of our Pennsylvanians.
But our work isn’t done. Extremists could flip Pennsylvania this November, undoing the substantial progress we’ve made over the years.
So whether we’re addressing issues like gun violence, championing small and minority-owned businesses, or advocating for the working class, it’s more important than ever that we come together to keep Pennsylvania blue up and down the ballot this November.
Joanna McClinton serves as the Speaker of the Pennsylvania State House, while proudly serving the 191st district.
Joanna has made important strides to enact progress in the Pennsylvania Legislature. From working to protect the rights of those accused in our criminal justice system to spearheading the fight to expand our voting rights, she has proven that she will always prioritize the prosperity of Pennsylvanians over the promise of power.
