Hello John,
Yesterday, we woke up to the devastating news of a mass shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia. At the time of this writing, four lives have been lost, including two students and two teachers, while at least nine others were injured. What should be a time of learning and growth has instead become a nightmare for families, teachers, and students. Our hearts go out to the victims, their loved ones, and the entire Winder community.
But grief alone is not enough. We cannot allow another day to pass without demanding action. In 2024, there have been at least 133 incidents of gunfire on school grounds across the country. These are not just numbers; they are children, teachers, and communities torn apart by senseless violence.
We owe it to our youth, our educators, and each other to make change happen. We cannot keep waiting for the next tragedy. It’s time for our lawmakers to take tangible steps toward protecting our schools by enacting evidence-based gun violence prevention policies.
Please stand with us today. Add your name to our petition calling on legislators to put the safety of our children first. We cannot afford to wait. Together, we can prevent further heartbreak and ensure our schools are places of learning, not fear.
