The Civil Rights Act of 1960 was signed into law by President Dwight D. Eisenhower on May 6, 1960.


This Act aimed to address discriminatory practices that prevented African Americans and other minorities from exercising their right to vote, particularly in Southern states.The Civil Rights Act of 1960 was designed to strengthen the enforcement of voting rights established in the Civil Rights Act of 1957.
